Located right off the Santa Monica Freeway, West Adams is home to some of the most historic neighborhoods in Los Angeles. Many of these neighborhoods have seen a revival in recent years. Many people frustrated with the suburban commute have tapped into these neighborhoods for their affordable housing and unique architecture. West Adams is a diverse community and each neighborhood has its own personality and unique character. If you are considering moving to the West Adams area, here are some of the neighborhoods to explore with an Aspire real estate broker.

Jefferson Park: Jefferson Park has one of the most diverse collections of preserved Craftsman-style homes in the United States. Built at the height of the Arts and Crafts era, Jefferson Park offers a variety of single-story bungalows. After the passing of HPOZ, many of these gorgeous homes have been fully restored and are ideal for new homebuyers.

University Park: University Park is located off Figueroa and contains USC. You can find gorgeous examples of Victorian mansions near the university, around Hoover Boulevard, and St. James Square. Make sure to go through Chester Place to visit Doheny Mansion. Doheny Mansion is now student housing but blends Romantic Revival, Gothic, Chateauesque, and Moorish styles.

Arlington Heights: Another area featuring gorgeous Craftsman-style homes. Arlington Heights hosts a neighborhood tour every year where neighbors tour each other’s houses to share tips and get ideas for renovation projects. Arlington Heights has a very strong sense of community that is passionate about maintaining the historic character of its community.

Adams-Normandie: Developed at the turn of the century, Adams-Normandie features a blend of Craftsman and Victorian-style homes. You can find gorgeous examples of Shingle-Style and Tudor-Style Craftsman homes all over the area. Make sure to go to the Van Buren Place Historic District. This collection of six homes built by Percy H. Clark is on the National Register of Historic Places.
