Things To Keep Us Going As We Shelter In Place
Since times are changing and we are experiencing a pandemic, it is time to do our part and hunker down in our homes. To keep yourself cozy, safe, and busy, there are a few things you can do indoors to pass the time.

Safely Socialize With Friends

Social distancing and stay-at-home orders mean no socializing with friends in public or going to any type of gathering. However, that doesn’t mean you can’t be social at all. With today’s available technology, there are a variety of apps you can use to communicate with friends and family members who don’t live with you and to prevent boredom. We’ve been invited to our first Zoom birthday mixer and our marketing manager has been playing tons of WordFeud (scrabble) to stay connected.

Other ways you can stay social during this time include participating in exercise programs online. A lot of gyms are conducting sessions virtually to keep people active and healthy. You can also host a social distancing movie night. Have all your friends watch the same movie at the same time in the comfort of their own home with Netflix Party, this extension to your chrome browser and synchronizes video playback as well as adds group chat to your favorite Netflix shows. You can send messages to one another during the movie or do a video call afterward to discuss it.

Create A Cozy Home Atmosphere

Now that you have nailed down a few ways to socialize and stay connected with friends and family, let’s take a minute to focus on the comforts of home. “Hygge” is a Danish word used in acknowledging that a feeling or moment is charming and cozy, be it when you are alone or with other people.

To achieve this kind of atmosphere in your home, learn to enjoy the smaller things. For example, cook a meal from scratch with fresh ingredients you have grown in your garden. Turn the electronics off, light some candles, and snuggle up to some good music. Or you can create a snug area in the home using natural materials and warm textiles.

Comfort is important when it comes to creating a hygge atmosphere, and it is even more important now than ever before as we find ourselves spending more and more time at home. Learn to use the extra time you have to your advantage.

In addition to the tips above, hang up some twinkle lights throughout your LA home or outdoor space for a soft effect and sit back and relax. Enjoy the simple pleasures, be present and thankful, and appreciate your surroundings.
