Welcome To Leimert Park
Leimert Park is a neighborhood located in southern Los Angeles, just West of the University of Southern California. It’s right off the 10 and 110, and just a short commute to downtown Los Angeles. Leimert Park was the first planned community in the Los Angeles area designed for walkability and easy access to public transportation. Leimert Park will soon be home to the Crenshaw/LAX Transit Project, a comprehensive public transportation system. Named for its founder Walter H. Leimert, the community was developed in the 1920s and was praised as a model of urban planning across the country. So beloved was the community, that in the 1930s it was an official Olympic Village.

Today Leimert Park is a diverse, multicultural neighborhood with a thriving business district, great schools, and fun nightlife. Gorgeous rows of Spanish colonial revival homes with vintage elements line the well-manicured residential streets where children still play outside. The central district, Leimert Park Plaza, is known for its landmark cascading fountain, the historic Vision Theater, and boutique retail shopping is a perfect place to spend a Saturday afternoon with other community residents. It’s an ideal neighborhood for college students, young professionals working downtown, and new families looking for a safe, active community to raise their children.

See a rising star: Started in 1994 by Aceyalone, Project Blowed offers the longest-running hip hop open mic in the country on Thursdays. Many famous musicians got their start at Project Blowed and it’s a great place to see up and comers changing the industry.
Catch a show at Vision Theater: Once owned by Howard Hughes, this Art Deco theater is a host to poetry readings, live music acts, and theater projects. Recently remodeled, this stunning theater is a wonderful place to spend an evening checking out the local talent.
Relax at 5th Street Dick’s Coffee and Jazz Emporium: If you love jazz, chess, or just a great cup of coffee with some intellectual conversation, Dick’s Coffee and Jazz Emporium is a great place to spend a relaxing afternoon getting to know other residents and enjoying a shared love of culture.
Kiddie City: IF you are looking for a fun place to take the kids, Kiddie City has you covered. It’s an indoor park and play space for kids of all ages. The park is set up as a mini town and kids can explore fire trucks, small zoos, and even a barbershop. They also offer art and music classes and host mommy meets, so you can meet other parents in your neighborhood.
